Trippin' Is A Winner

They like me...they really, really like me...

First a "Fresh Breeze" (Black Issues Book Review Magazine July/August 2005)...AND NOW THIS! :-)

I have officially won my first literary award. My novel Trippin' was selected along with two other fine novels as the BEST GENERAL FICTION NOVEL OF 2006 by the popular website blackrefer.com. For those that don't know, blackrefer.com, is one of the largest black website directories on the 'Net -- it's the ultimate online referral site for all things African-American.

Anyway...I don't have a speech prepared, but I'm truly honored all the same. See below for the full list of literary winners!

THANK YOU DELORES THORNTON AND BLACKREFER.COM!!!!

Here is Delores' review for my book:

What happens when a disenchanted housewife decides to add spice to a faltering marriage? Meet Dr. Madetra Price, who with the help of twin sister Kaylantra Ellis (an Internet website porn operator), starts a travel club. The sisters, along with five other wildly impractical, twenty to thirty-something professionals make up Destination: Anticipation Travel Club, simply called DAT Club.

The club starts off innocently enough, but somewhere between a trip to the Mall of America; a visit to Lake Tahoe, and a buck-wild outing at a nude resort, things get totally out of control! In August, just before DAT Club's one year anniversary, the group starts to fall apart and Madetra plans to disband; Las Vegas will be the last trip. So many things are going wrong when tragedy strikes -- setting someone on a deadly course of revenge.

In this tale of betrayal, lust, and love, Buckley takes the reader on a wild ride they won't soon forget. Excellent!

Couldn't a happened to a nicer girl! 'Course, I'll say that when Gwyneth gets her first or next award too. But, you know, I'm biased. In the meantime, Wooo-hoooo!

Congratulations! I just read "Bulletproof Soul" over the weekend, which I loved, so I'm sure "Trippin'" is wonderful too! Enjoy the win!

@ Kimber An -- thanks for the Wooo-hoooo! It's nice to know that all that toiling you do when writing can pay off in nice ways like this! It's great when your work is publicly appreciated. You're next!

@ TDJ -- I'm glad you liked Bulletproof Soul. Trippin' is totally different girl. You wouldn't even think the same person wrote it! LOL...It was my attempt at walking on the wild side!

TDJ -- it's pretty wild -- features a serial killer with interesting ideas about mixing sex with murder! LORD FORGIVE ME! :-) But I have to admit it was too fun to write!
